Beach Breaks in the Balearics

The Balearic Islands are one of the most visited destinations of recent years, bringing happy holidaymakers back to its sun-soaked shores year after year. It’s not hard to see why – this cluster of islands offers plenty of diversity and can easily cater to every holiday wish list, whether there’s a relaxing beach break on the cards or high octane nights out with plenty of pubs and clubs.

At the quieter end of the scale, Menorca package holidays were simply made for taking it easy. Here you’ve got endless sandy beaches and secluded bays, pine-clad hillsides, rocky cliff tops and a laid-back ambience that puts the focus firmly on rest and relaxation. Families will love the hotel-run kids’ clubs and child-friendly activities on offer – especially the water park at Cala’n Forcat – while those seeking a quiet and more authentic resort to escape to will lap up the lovely Es Castell, a small town surrounding a beautiful harbour.

At the other end of the scale, holidays to Ibiza know how to get the adrenalin going. Famous the world over for its big-name DJs and heavyweight clubs, this is definitely where the party’s at. Ibiza has been drawing crowds and spinning the latest tunes for years, but it hasn’t aged a bit – so if you’re after all-night clubs and non-stop nightlife, head to San Antonio or Ibiza Town for some serious fun.

Finally, Majorca is the biggest of the Balearic Islands and potentially the most diverse. It’s got cosmopolitan Palma, a capital city with gorgeous architecture and a chic waterside appeal, and a wonderful mix of resorts to please every taste and budget. It’s got big nights out, sumptuous spa retreats and plush golf resorts, family hotels and kids’ activities by the bucket-load and of course, some of the most beautiful beaches ever to grace a postcard. The only question is, which one will you choose?
